Landscape

Bialogard is situated in the river-basin of the Parseta River on the Bialogard Plain, which is part of the Szczecin Lowland. The main impact on the topography of the land was exerted by the last Baltic glaciation, the Pomeranian Phase and processes which followed the ice age. The basic post-glacial drifts are: clays, sands, gravel and erratic boulders.

Climate

The Bialogard Land is located within two climatic regions. The northern part in the lower section of the river-basin of the Parseta River covers the Central Coastal Region and the central and upper fragment of the river-basin lies in the Central Pomeranian Region.

Waterways

The Bialogard Land is a privileged region in Poland due to the abundance of rivers and an extremely low flow rate instability. The biggest Pomeranian river is also the main river crossing Bialogard. The river-basin of the Parseta River is 3,145 km2. The river is 139.4 km long.

Flora and Fauna

The contemporary flora and fauna of the area of Bialogard result from the mutual interaction of all elements of the geographical environment. The most extended forest complexes are to be found in the south-west of the Bialogard district and form part of the Koszalin and Bialogard forests. Pines and spruce predominate. Leaved forests consist mainly of beech, oak, alder and birch trees.

Main attractions:

In the park, visitors can see the White Eagle Memorial (a figure of an eagle renovated towards the end of 2002), the venue of patriotic manifestations, and on the opposite side of Kopernika Street, the memorial commemorating the victims of Bolshevism who were murdered or taken away.
